Industrial Flask, Inc. was founded in 1974 by Clarence Mollett to fill a service gap in the Foundry Industry.  Spent Flasks for automatic molding machines were going untouched for months at a time.  This left half-million dollar molding operations to come to a stand still.  50+ years later we are still rebuilding Flasks for Foundries across North America.  We are steadily building new tooling to add to our service to this industry.  We are currently tooled up to support approximately 14 models/sizes from 1419 to 3230 and counting.

A New Era for IFI

We stayed busy with BP Flasks for about 20 years or so.  Shifts in the market brought new OEM’s into the US as well as a changing of the guard at IFI.  Dan Schalck had worked at IFI for about 5 years and left to work at a Foundry for about 8 years.  While there, he finished his degree and worked his way up to Manager of Manufacturing-overseeing a 3 shift operation at multiple locations pouring Aluminum, Copper Base, and Ductile Iron.  Molding consisted of Green Sand, Chemically-Bonded Sand, Permanent Mold, and Semi-Permanent Mold with full machining capabilities as well.  Clarence retired, and Dan came back & took over.

Next Chapter

The early to mid ’90’s brought a significant amount of new investment into the US Foundry Industry, it was inevitable that new OEM’s might enter the US Casting Market.  These machines came with a steep price so one of the first major changes for IFI was to address this new trend.  It required a 2-prong ‘attack’: Refurbish/Rebuild the long-standing and industry standard BP Match-Blomatics, and simultaneously address the new manufacturers of Matchplate molding machines.
